School History

In late 2008, Heather Fish began discussing the idea of founding a new martial arts school within her community of friends and martial artists. The founding members came together to create and support a new community where individual martial artists could not only train together, but actively support each other as they grew as a martial artists and as people.

Polaris Fellowship incorporated as a Michigan Nonprofit in 2009.

Name

Polaris is named for the North Star. This symbolizes that as we study and learn together, we develop the tools which allow us to better find our individual paths. Polaris is deeply rooted in fellowship and the school actively works to build a supportive martial arts community for its members.

The school’s symbol, the pole star, was designed by Scott Wilhelm.
